Tower Hamlets - Bereavement Support : Bereavement Support in Tower Hamlets

These services are offered to people who live in Tower Hamlets or whose families are or have been patients of any of the hospitals within Barts and the London NHS Trust. The bereaved can ask a healthcare professional to refer them or they can telephone us themselves on 0207 247 1209.

Bereavement Counselling Service

Death and bereavement bring many changes which are often difficult and painful. Some people find it helpful to talk to a counsellor who is trained to support you and help you talk about all that has happened.

Counselling for Couples

We are also able to offer counselling to couples whose child has died. If you and your partner have experienced the loss of a child or a baby, you may like to meet together with a counsellor who can talk with you about what has happened and how this has affected you, your relationship and your family.

Bereavement Volunteer Service

We have carefully selected and trained volunteers from the multi-faith community to offer practical help and support to bereaved people. We offer:

·        Home visits

·        Befriending

·        Advice and information

Our volunteers understand how many changes there can be to cope with after the death of a family member or close friend. Our volunteers are trained to listen and to be supportive at this difficult time.

Muslim Visiting Service

A group of Muslim volunteers have been trained to visit bereaved Muslims.

All our services are free and confidential.
